Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/2 cup onions, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon Sriracha (adjust to taste)

1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

1 head of iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Thoroughly wash the lettuce leaves and pat them dry. Set aside. Chop all vegetables (onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms) and prepare garlic and ginger for cooking.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: To the beef, add minced garlic and ginger. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.

Incorporate Vegetables: Stir the chopped onions and red bell pepper into the skillet. Sauté for about 3–4 minutes until softened.

Add Mushrooms: Fold in the mushrooms and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, until they are tender and browned.

Flavor the Filling: Pour in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and Sriracha. Mix well to combine all ingredients, and let it simmer for a couple of minutes to meld the flavors.

Serve: Transfer the beef filling to a serving bowl. To assemble wraps, take a lettuce leaf, spoon in the beef mixture, and top with chopped green onions and cilantro.

Enjoy: Enjoy your lettuce wraps while warm, and feel free to add more Sriracha for an extra kick!
