When it comes to baking banana bread brownies, the choice of bananas is crucial. Ripe bananas are essential for achieving the perfect texture and flavor. As bananas ripen, their starches convert into sugars, resulting in a natural sweetness that enhances the overall taste of your brownies. The moisture content of ripe bananas also contributes to the fudgy texture that makes brownies so desirable. When selecting bananas for this recipe, look for those with a deep yellow color and plenty of brown spots, as these indicate optimal ripeness.

Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, mixing until smooth.

Stir in the brown sugar until well combined.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.

If desired, gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy your delicious Banana Bread Brownies!
