Ingredients

500g flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1-2 red chillies, sliced (adjust for spice preference)

1 bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 onion, thinly sliced

4 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Allow to marinate for about 30 minutes to enhance flavor.

Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, whisk together cornstarch, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.

Coat the Beef: Remove the beef from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Toss the beef in the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated.

Fry the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the beef in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beef and drain on paper towels.

Stir-fry the Vegetables: In the same wok, use a little of the leftover oil if necessary. Add bell pepper, onion, and sliced red chillies. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.

Combine & Sauce: Add the crispy beef back into the pan. Pour in the sweet chilli sauce and toss everything together gently, ensuring the beef and vegetables are evenly coated.

Serve: Transfer the crispy chilli beef to a serving plate. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.
