Ingredients

For the Chicken Cordon Bleu:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (preferably thinly sliced)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

Salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil or melted butter for frying

For the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon butter

2 garlic cloves, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound it with a meat mallet until it's about 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat with the remaining chicken breasts.

Assemble the Chicken Cordon Bleu: Lay a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Carefully roll up each chicken breast tightly and secure with toothpicks.

Breading the Chicken: Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes; one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs evenly.

Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil (or melted butter) over medium heat. Fry the chicken rolls for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer them to a baking dish.

Bake: Bake the chicken rolls in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and the temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Make the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the minced garlic for about a minute. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the Dijon mustard and cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Once the chicken is done, remove toothpicks and cut them into medallions. Drizzle the creamy Swiss cheese sauce over the chicken and garnish with chopped parsley.
