4 slices thick-cut brioche bread

2 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

Fresh berries for topping (optional)

Whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

    Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt, coating the bottom of the pan.

      Dip each slice of brioche bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 15-30 seconds on each side. Ensure the bread is well coated but not overly soggy.

        Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

          In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble.

            Place the French toast slices back into the skillet with the caramelized sugar. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on each side, allowing the sugar to form a caramelized crust on the toast.
