Ingredients

8 Hawaiian sweet rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Maple syrup, for serving

Fresh fruit (like pineapple or berries), for topping (optional)

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar until well combined. Set aside.

Slice the Rolls: Carefully slice each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally, keeping them attached at the bottom so they remain in a sandwich form.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each roll into the custard mixture, allowing them to soak for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they're saturate but not falling apart.

Cook the Rolls: In a large skillet or griddle over medium heat, melt the butter. Place the soaked rolls on the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.

Serve: Once cooked, remove from heat and serve the French toast warm. Drizzle with maple syrup, top with fresh fruit if desired, and dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
