Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup whole milk, warmed

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

2 large apples, peeled and diced (preferably Granny Smith)

½ cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tablespoons milk (to achieve desired consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. Mix well.

      - In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, melted butter, and eggs. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients.

        - Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

          - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.

            Prepare the Filling:

              - In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and softened butter. Add chopped nuts if using. Set aside.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                    - Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).

                      - Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

                        - Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

                          - Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and arrange them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

                            Second Rise:

                              - Cover the rolls with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let them rise in a warm place for another 30 minutes until puffed.

                                Bake:

                                  - Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

                                    Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting:

                                      - While the rolls are baking, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together in a bowl until smooth.

                                        - Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract while mixing on low speed. Add milk as needed to achieve a creamy consistency.

                                          Frost and Serve:

                                            - Once the rolls are done, allow them to cool for about 10 minutes. Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls.

                                              - Serve warm and enjoy the delicious blend of apple, cinnamon, and creamy frosting.
