Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

½ cup sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Apple Cinnamon Filling:

2 large apples, peeled and finely diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

½ cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

6 oz cream cheese, softened

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2-3 tbsp milk (as needed to reach desired consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.

      - Add melted butter, eggs, and mix well. Gradually stir in flour, salt, and ground cinnamon until a dough forms.

        - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Make the Filling

            - In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until well-combined and set aside.

              Roll the Dough

                - After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).

                  - Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

                    Form the Rolls

                      - Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

                        - Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them into a greased baking dish. Cover with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.

                          Bake the Rolls

                            - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

                              Prepare the Frosting

                                - While the rolls are baking, beat the cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well. Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you achieve a smooth spreadable consistency.

                                  Frost and Serve

                                    - Once the rolls are baked and slightly cooled, generously spread the cream cheese frosting on top.

                                      - Serve warm and enjoy!
