Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

A pinch of sea salt

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt for serving (optional)

Instructions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir until fully combined.

Add the banana slices to the skillet, gently tossing them in the cinnamon mixture until they are coated.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until the bananas are golden brown and caramelized, being careful not to overcook them, or they will become mushy.

Drizzle the vanilla extract and lemon juice over the bananas, gently stirring to coat once more.

Remove from heat and serve warm, topped with fresh mint leaves and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt, if desired.
